Domestic Displacement (Negroni)

This high displacement lithophane is an initial technical experiment in image base sculpture. From an oblique angle, it resembles a geological formation, but as one comes to the front, it resolve into a recognizable image, though one distorted by foreshortening. The front piece is printed in PLA, the backing piece, which houses the LED strip light, in PETG to avoid warping due to heat build up. This particular image is intended to recall social media lifestyle photography. 8 inches in diameter by 3.5 deep. 2019.
